Dusty your best bet would be go back to the dealer you bought it from and explain the problems that you have with it and you may find that he can give you a good part x price on a machine that is more to your liking.

Dusty, Where about are you mate?, i feel for you because that's how i felt when i first had my had my e-trac, i thought it would just be a better version of the quattro i had, but it was completely different, I persevered and now i love it, we work well together Smiley
The reason i asked your local was that RJM (Bob)had the GM3 and the GM3+, it worked very well for him and i'm sure he could show you how to get a handle on it.
Quite often when he was getting used to it he would check some iffy signals with me against the E-trac, he had it set to make a farting noise, Lol , on Iron, he was always right Wink
He's on holiday this week but back next. I know he'd be happy to talk with you about it if you think it would help?
all the best
Karl.

Hey gents, thanks for the replies - you really are a friendly bunch in here!

I did go back to the dealer in the end, Tim at Evergreen very kindly took it back and I ended up with a Minelab SE for a few quid more. For some reason I feel its a better machine for me and the other half, get a better vibe from it  Huh

Anyway's thanks again chaps, Ill be a bleedin pest to all SE users now getting hints and tips lol!!!  Grin

I'm sure you wont regret it, the best bit of advice i can offer, get your hands on Andy Sabiche's book About the Explorer (e-bay ), and get on the Minelab owners Forum Wink
Have fun.

Cheers chaps. Signed up to that website and found the book on ebay near enough on my door step. Looking good so far!!

All I gotta do now is find a good site when people will leave me alone and not moan every 5 minutes lol!
