Title: A first for me Post by: Dale on February 10, 2014, 06:55:08 PM I had a quick hour out this evening, on a well detected area in the corner of a field, iv found quite a few cut half's and small hammered coinage from the particular area, so I was taking it nice and slow to hunt them out, the last thing I expected was a half crown ??? just goes to show what gets missed time and time again, and being my first I was happy.
Apart from that I found a Bristol token, a silver something? the usual buttons, lead, and broken buckles ;) Title: Re: A first for me Post by: cardiffian on February 10, 2014, 06:59:11 PM Those half crowns are a nice coin and always pleasing to find. Well done on a first as well.

Well done Dale, it is amazing a big coin like that should be missed, I bet when you had that signal you weren't expecting another cut half ::) ;)Apart from that I found a Bristol token, a silver something? the usual buttons, lead, and broken buckles ;) Title: Re: A first for me Post by: 150aceboy on February 10, 2014, 07:49:06 PM Well done m8, nice finds ;)

Well done Dale, it is amazing a big coin like that should be missed, I bet when you had that signal you weren't expecting another cut half ::) ;)Apart from that I found a Bristol token, a silver something? the usual buttons, lead, and broken buckles ;) Cheers all ;) Your right Paul, I was a little surprised when I found it, I sometimes wonder on ploughed land if iv walked away from large coins/objects just below the surface, due to the size of the signal and the power overload, I do worry about missing axe heads :D :) the Tejon is definitely better on the very small items, that's the reason I like it, I think ??? ;) Title: Re: A first for me Post by: probono on February 10, 2014, 10:15:24 PM Nice - I'm guessing George VI (I noticed yesterday that the G V ones don't have the dots in the G cyphers on the reverse, but G VI ones do).
Lovely coins - I found one yesterday (in the hail) myself - but mine was in a park, and in the same hole was a florin, shilling and penny - it was my first ever silver florin (and only my second silver halfcrown), so I was well chuffed - there's such a buzz finding a big silver even if it is 'modern'!
