Hello guys,like tom was saying we had a nice couple of finds on the weekend,a bit quiet on the roman coins,still had a couple which we cant grumble at,tom had 2 lovely little hammereds,and a part bronze axe which is great stuff,i was very lucky to find this lovely sword hanger which cleaned up beautiful,going again Thursday so fingers crossed,here is a couple of photos of my sword hanger ,cheers guys Ron.

hello again guys,if anybody is interested in what I used to clean it up,it was the one calorie spray cooking oil,iv cleaned a couple of things with it now,and they have all come up lovely,cheers guys  ;)

Congratulations on a beautiful find,... something that I dream of finding !!....oh if only it could speak !!!what a story it would tell.
Well done also on the cleaning of it,I will try it out myself,well that is if ever I find a sword hanger .. knowing my luck I'd be lucky to find a bloomin coat hanger !!!! LOL...😁...wishing you both continued successful detecting.👍

Nice cleaning and patina preservation Ron.  The sales of low calorie spray oil have just increased.  Should ask them for some commission.

Ah Ha; most interesting cleaning product!  I think that my wife has a spray can of that stuff in the kitchen cupboard.

Nice fined and thank you for the heads up on using the cooking oil.

Quality item Ron and you rarely see them in such good condition, often just 'partifacts'.

Word to the wise though although vegetable oil may make it look very nice in the short term, I have found that olive oil decimates artefacts long term and I fear olive oil will do the same. Renaissance wax the same as they us in the museum is the answer.

Good point Neil, I had heard that olive oil is slightly acidic.

One calorie gentlemen ,not olive oil.haha,before that goes cruddy again i'll be pushing up the daisies,lol. ;D
