Post by: dsinfinite on May 30, 2014, 06:55:28 PM
Hello just wanted to ask you guys, what has been your weirdest beach find? personally mine was a crab that burrowed itself.. it however it wasn't just once it has happened but 3 times... the first time it was a big crab, the size of my garrett pouch.. and then 2 small ones so what was your weirdest find at the beach? (doesn't have to be metal.. =p)

What about a Squid.  All the usual but not unusual to these beaches.  Star Fish, Elvers, Spider crabs, Hermit crabs, Prawns, Jelly fish of all varieties, a couple of dead baby Seals. Then there's the Human plastic losses. Tooth brushes, combs, knives, forks, spoons, lighters, toys. The list is endless.
You name it I think I've found it.  I think I like beach combing better than beach detecting. There's always something interesting to find.
Here's the squid I found.

all the usual junk but on barry one day whilst digging a hole on the tide line a sandeel jumped out the hole frightened the s##t out of me , on the same day I was approached by an oriental couple , the woman asked if I was looking for crabs , of course I politely refused her generous offer and went on my happy way  ::) ::)

I've had a fella ask me if I was looking for worms, and he was serious, dead seals, birds and a pig,  two golf balls last week, and two gulls stuck together with fishing gut, but they had a happy ending, one wack each  with the spade, not really, fxxkers bit me while getting them loose, that's gratitude for you, probably the same ones that had my chips later,

Me and DaMonkey detecting north of Bairritz in France and we found quite a few full bottles of wine. The French seem to hide them in the sand to keep cool and then loose them, hic.....

Then we went down the quiet end of the beach and found a couple of ladies who seemed to have lost most of their cossies.

Needless to say we had to give that area of beach a good going over  ;D
