Title: Deus question please
Post by: b.buoy on May 12, 2014, 09:14:49 PM
Can I mess about with the remote and experiment with settings if the coil is maybe 10 yards away and the earphones are off?
Need to try and be comfortable with the various programmes before I go out into field again
Ta in anticipation

Unless the coil is near, you will be able to do most things but not change or set coil frequency.

Yes you can change any settings within the remote no matter how close or far away you are from the coil you are with the controller, unless you go to the "save" part of the menu nothing will  change within the programs.

No, it's as I said. You cannot access/change coil frequency.

Ok, thanks for that
Ideally, and until I get properly used to the programmes I would like for example to  set up non motion/pinpoint/squealer and sensitivity at home, then just adjust to a low buzz on site. Apparently and according to one of the u tube vids I watched I can then just clic back to basic 1 to check the signal strength/ferrous.
Would this work?

I think you are talking about Pinpoint mode or non motion searching.

My understanding is there is no way of saving this mode. It needs to be done each time you turn the machine on. Indeed, you need to ground balance regular.

The easy way is to use the left and right pads of the controller to quickly switch between programs.

If your purpose is to check deep iron, you may want to save a program using frequency 4KHz as this tends to identify deep iron the best.

My advice is to use a program and get used to it.

Chopping and changing, you will take ages to learn the machine well, and not get your ear tuned in.

Basic 1 is excellent, with maybe putting iron volume on 1 and upping sensitivity but keeping machine stable, or non chattery.

Keep Ground Balance on manual between 87-90.

If you suspect iron, you can switch to a saved program next to Basic 1 with 4KHz which might help on ID.

You shouldn't really need pinpoint as the machine is quite sharp without it.
