Yes miles ahead of you Alan, I got a phone call on Monday to say it was being announced, I was beginning to think it was a figment of my imagination.lol
And some good news in that article is that there is a new program starting in August on BBC2, "Digging for Britain".

Full marks to Dave Crisp for leaving it in situ, I'm not sure if I would have had his resolve. A brilliant example of "how to".

yes, it is a perfect example of what one should do in respect of finding such a  hoard.

i do wonder how many detectorists actually know the correct procedure to follow and what to do in such situations. However, Dave did everything correctly and full marks to him. I look forward top seeing the TV programme in due course.

i hope i never find a hoard as i wil probably make a bad job of recovering it,,,i mean how many times have you had a good signal ,dug down ,seen pottery or pot and still got a signal with your probe that something metallic is either in?under?or by the pot/pottery only to find a load of chicken wire or some rubbish Huh...when is the point when you call someone Huh?,,

Good question. I have a horrible feeling that by the time the archaeologists arrived I would be sat on the ground surrounded by piles of counted coin, looking like some bizarre mix of Shylock and Gollum and muttering "my precious".

OK Ray, shut up. what do you mean I do anyway Cheesy

Hmmmmm Chef I knew I seen a resemblance somewhere.

On a serious note though guys, I'm not sure I'd know where to stop either.  I've helped dig three big holes recently with Neil , Pipster and Roman Ray.  these turned out to be  two terracotta coloured enamelled milk  urns down a good 20 inches and a Victorian Drain with some type of metal collar on it , again down a good 20 inches.

We'd have felt right twonks if we had called the Archies in for a milk churn! I mean after all it's not as if we are the type of people who would called in the Bomb Disposal Squad for a pig feed trough is it! Grin Grin Grin

See you tomorrow mate for more adventures in the earth
