At last I spotted how to post...Hello everyone.
My name is Bill.
Made a metal detector from a Cscope kit (K5000) about 24 years ago. Another of my 'get rich quick' schemes...lol
I used it on holidays for a couple of years repairing bits and bobs as they wore out/got broken. The machine is a bit like triggers sweeping brush with all the swapped out parts now.
A couple of weeks ago I fished it out from the back of the shed and changed the speaker to get it working again (now that I have the time). Also bought a couple of new detectors to take my grandchildren out with me. A Garrett Ace 250 and a new Cscope CS3MXI.
My, how things have changed. The Garrett loves coins and the new Cscope actually found a .22 airgun slug which I thought was pretty amazing.
So here we go again.
This time I intend to seriously get rich...LOL

welcome sounds as if you are another with a soldering iron, check out geotech1 forum full of interesting projects, good luck on the beach with the grandchildren mine have a great time searching .

Thanks everyone, that link to Geotech1 forum is fascinating. I'm just looking at resourcing some wire to make a coil or getting a second hand one off e-bay before I order one of the PI Beach detector kits from silverdog's site.
