MAD COWS EAT METAL DETECTORISTS !!!🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂

« on: November 03, 2015, 07:09:28 PM »

Hi again, just thought I would show the rest of the finds on which I found the "bit of silver"
Anyone know anything about the button"with "TAFF VALE RAILWAY"
Not sure what the coin is either.....help please!!
Also,as we all find brass buckles this one is a bit different, its actually been silvered, for what purpose, could it have been a military officers buckle ?
Also,a very nice Shard from a bronze pot,I await all your comments,oh! And thanks for looking.👍

The taff vale railway button is unsurprisingly a button from the taff vale railway company Roll Eyes Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy and a very nice  find https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taff_Vale_Railway

The buckle looks like a standard belt buckle and not that old.  Have you had a good look at the corroded spikey thing on the left..  Do you think it could be an arrow head ?
The coin looks like the  one you posted the other day. Can you make out anything on head side.

Hi Val,yes I know it looks similar to the recently show coin, but its wafer thin and although photograph doesn't show this one is slightly bent as in love token coins.
And regarding the "arrowhead" well to be honest it never even occurred to me that it could be that, but now I've had a good look at it,its quite possible,it seems to have a flat bit on one end, possibly to fit into the shaft of the arrow, however I am not sure why it would have that build up!! Distorting the original shape!!
What would it have been made of,bronze, iron, any suggestions ?
Thanks for the input, feel free to send further comments..... Please!! Huh

It looks like Iron, well corroded.  It's always a bit of a burger to I.D most bits of iron that we do dig up. They get so distorted, I think that's why they use XRay on them at the Museum.  We can only guess.
One thing I do know is that every machine I've had has thought some of them were made of gold  Shocked and you got to dig them.
Don't forget that Geo 1st coins weren't all extra thick like the 1717 coin. They reverted to normal thickness after that.

Thanks for that info Val,with regards to the coin, its thickness I virtually the same as a hammered.
With regard to the "arrowhead"Huh I put the detector over it again today(buried) and yes,it certainly doesn't come up as full blown iron, bit of a strange one,but a very good observation on your part, thanks for that.👍

I dug up a button a bit like that a while back, but I think mine was the Barry Railway Company.

Hi Mike, tried magnet on "arrowhead" and yes it is/was iron,so does that make it more probably an arrowhead ? Huh
