Spent about 3 hours on a local field that has never let us down yet. The last outing brought out the bronze spearhead.
Well this time we worked an area on the other side of the field and my 2nd signal of the day produced a result which meant that there's another item off my wish list. Sadly its in poor shape and is just about held together by the mud, so i haven't cleaned it. But it does mean that i'm one ahead of Da Monkey in the hammered count this year!
Anyway, i'm sure that its a half groat, but any more info on who it is would be much appreciated.
Now i know that lead objects are not held in high esteem amongst some, but todays 2 lead objects are things of beauty. A lead ring came up. This is the 2nd lead ring i've found the first one being 5 years ago. At the time there were only 3 recorded in our county ... so will be checking in due course if any more have been found since then.
The 2nd lead object is a real stunner, blank on one side which lead me to think it was a weight, but on cleaning it ... look what came up on the other side ... a cross on a plinth!! Now thats a find and a half ... so again, any more info would be welcome.
Finally, Sundays only find was a nice livery button, before i dashed home to watch the rugby .... since the result i have been deluged with texts, from my english friends, who are so pleased to have the opportunity for revenge after my 3 years of baiting them!!
.
So a good day today, made up for yesterday.
Cheers .. now for that silver thimble!
