Managed to get some new land recently and me and Dave had our first trip out there yesterday, lots of research done and it looked very promising, however it proved to be a bit disappointing, that being said we only had access to a couple of fields and will be going back next week to go onto the seeded fields so still early days!

Sun was shining this morning so I decided to have a go in one of my old fields which has been very productive in the past, but very, very quiet lately. It had been planted with maize this year and there's only a strip around it cut at the moment. To be honest I'd gone out with the resolution to dig EVERY signal iron included (that's how quiet it's been!) fully expecting to just find the usual hedge fodder. I was onto my second circuit when I had a lovely sounding signal, I was convinced it was going to be lead as it was so loud and clear, I was well pleased when a lovely Eddy III halfpenny popped out, couldn't believe the signal it gave off, was about 4 - 5" down. I carried on slow & low in that area and about 15 mins later was rewarded with a nice cut half, well pleased again.

A few minutes later in rolled the combine so I had to cut it short, but just shows you even when you think a field is done........ think again!
