back to a well worked field and still managed a bit of silver 1844 sixpence and a
georgian shoe buckle ( i think ) any ideas on the caliber of the bullet

Good days detecting, more coins than I'm getting at the moment, the buckle looks 18thC (Whiteheads dates of 1250-1800 is a total cop out, he doesn't know) the bullet head looks to be from the Baker rifle or a variant of the Sharps 50-90, diameter would be 13mm.
For the Baker think Waterloo
For the Sharps think the Alamo  Grin
