Title: Re: Todays Hammered Find Post by: The Doc on November 06, 2011, 08:33:48 PM Well found Bob - it's a Charles I sixpence - a bit clipped unfortunately so can't give you any more info than this.
Was the day productive generally? I saw Tom's nice coin on the Scan Club site. Was the day productive generally? I saw Tom's nice coin on the Scan Club site. As far as I know there were three Hammered. Toms Edward 1st?, My James 1st and another hammered. No Roman. Avalon had a lovely Papal Bullae. :o :o Quite a few buckles. I also had a Cartwheel but it's worn. Nice weather. Beautiful scenery. Title: Re: Todays Hammered Find Post by: The Doc on November 06, 2011, 09:02:44 PM Bob - it's Charles I, not James. It's a Tower mint English issue.

Can't find similar shield in my book. Will go and get a few more coin books shortly to see if I can find out. Title: Re: Todays Hammered Find Post by: The Doc on November 06, 2011, 10:23:38 PM It's somewhere between Spink 2814 and 2821 (in post-2006 editions after the numbering was changed). Date 1636-1646.
Title: Re: Todays Hammered Find Post by: Chef Geoff on November 06, 2011, 10:27:29 PM Look at 2855 Bob
Title: Re: Todays Hammered Find Post by: rjm on November 06, 2011, 11:46:59 PM Look at 2855 Bob 2855 is milled, mine is hammered. Also shield on mine is flatter at bottom. I think it's 'Under Paliament 1642-9) Can't find exact one. Interesting is that they have West Country issue!! but think mine may be, as Peter said, London Mint. Title: Re: Todays Hammered Find Post by: Chef Geoff on November 06, 2011, 11:59:14 PM Ah um OK I'm stupid (note to self, must learn to read). Sorry Bob.
