It was a great day out there was few hammered and some lovely roman broaches. I had some nice bits but nothing amazing. I will try and send some pics so you can all give me a hand with identification. There was plenty of fields to go at but some were nearly impossible to detect because of stubble and deep plough. But all in all a good day with lovely weather.

I was there too, didn't do well at all - had a watch winder, small pot leg and buttons. My mate Stephen had a medieval buckle and a William III halfpenny. The fields in crop were ideal for detecting, but the rape stubble fields were horrible, although I did hear of a nice shortcross penny coming out of one of them. There were some other nice finds - Roman and medieval, but not much considering how many were there.

I did see the RARE coach, but didn't get to talk to any of the members - anyone get anything good?

Cheers Andrew

Andrew - I'm not sure what it is though - can you try and get better pics - the second one is blurred?

That ring of pellets has a Celtic look about it to me, but the other side doesn't look like silver - is it only silver-plated on one side?

Hello
Thanks Pete
I think you are right with the one side being plated. The other has the initials on it but looks blurry even in the flesh.
I will try and get some close ups done that will turn out a tad better
Cheers Andrew

I found 7 coins altogether of which two were milled silver. All were very worn and the silver smooth. Also a lead token and a few buttons.

Lovely weather. My arm was aching after a good 5 hours solid detecting.

Looking forward to Aldbourne.
