Title: how do you know when iron 'junk' is interesting???
Post by: detectingly on April 19, 2015, 04:18:44 PM
I had one of those 'dig me' signals that turns into a piece of iron  :'(

But given that it's dug...it'd be nice to know what it was?

 ;D

I've often thought that 'interesting' iron can be as good a find as something that you can easily ID. Unfortunately 99% are so badly corroded as to defy the best imagination.

I've held onto bits for ages and then out of the blue someone has looked and said Oh I know what that is, it's a  ?????

Always worth keeping anything that you think is interesting.

I see where your coming from Dingdong but it looks a bit on the big side for that ???
It looks as if the top and bottom are slightly bent outwards, not sure by how much but it gives it the look of a cleat?
