Title: New Garrett ProPointer Post by: Resurgam on January 02, 2015, 08:26:12 PM Has anyone priced the new Garrett waterproof ProPointer yet?
Title: Re: New Garrett ProPointer Post by: sharkey on January 02, 2015, 08:42:40 PM Hi Chris I looked earlier and from memory it's priced at $150 in the states , and on a German/Dutch website I found it pre order for €150 euros. I did not order one, I will wait for a UK supplier I think. The preorders were for February so shouldn't be too long to wait

If they are as good as I believe and can get a bit more depth than the present Garrett probe I would get one for sure😛 the present probe is fine for what it is designed for and probably the best on market. But a fully waterproof probe to10 foot well I know if I had one of those when I went snorkelling in Cyprus this year it would have upped my finds rate of 1 gold chain and that was just waiving my hands to clear the sand in the shallows ;) especially as you can not take detectors to Cyprus ;) we will see.
Title: Re: New Garrett ProPointer Post by: Resurgam on January 02, 2015, 09:10:40 PM My present Garrett ProPointer is still working well after having it repaired last year and I get a little extra depth by using the trick of holding a coin against the side of the handle. If the new pointer is as good as it sounds, I may get one and keep my old one as backup. :-\

I'm going to splash out ( pardon the pun) mite not wait till I go back abroad,so if you see a fat as sticking out of the mud at Weston it's mine :D ;)

Title: Re: New Garrett ProPointer Post by: Chef Geoff on January 03, 2015, 06:38:20 PM There's plenty there already Paul it might be difficult to tell yours :D
There are plenty of YouTube vids about them but here's a couple of recent ones from the UK You need to go to 8 minutes 40 secs for just the probe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0Su9OnF77I (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0Su9OnF77I) And this one is by Pondguru https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1azPI4R7nFc&feature=youtu.be (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1azPI4R7nFc&feature=youtu.be) Title: Re: New Garrett ProPointer Post by: Val Beechey on January 04, 2015, 04:09:09 PM Now IF I wasn't aqua phobic even I might be tempted by one of them. They're not much more than a Garrett pin pointer and could be much more fun in the Summer.
Alas, it's not to be. I panic if I get under the shower never mind in the waves. ::) Val Title: Re: New Garrett ProPointer Post by: celticspikey on January 04, 2015, 04:59:57 PM There's plenty there already Paul it might be difficult to tell yours :D Thanks again Geoff. :)There are plenty of YouTube vids about them but here's a couple of recent ones from the UK You need to go to 8 minutes 40 secs for just the probe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0Su9OnF77I (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0Su9OnF77I) And this one is by Pondguru https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1azPI4R7nFc&feature=youtu.be (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1azPI4R7nFc&feature=youtu.be) Title: Re: New Garrett ProPointer Post by: Napoleon on January 04, 2015, 09:49:00 PM ::) good pointer when you take a bath
Title: Re: New Garrett ProPointer Post by: Radnor Bandit (Ian) on January 06, 2015, 01:20:19 PM I see that Garrett havnt moved the speaker from the original position so it will still fill up with mud within a very short time. Is this just a rehoused version of the original?
I would have thought that garrett would have looked at the speaker position on the Makro, which is much more sensible placed on the cap end. Title: Re: New Garrett ProPointer Post by: Dryland on January 06, 2015, 08:25:47 PM I agree with you Ian on the speaker position, I cover the speaker on mine with a bit of tape and although you do lose a bit of volume.
It's still loud enough, and it keeps the speaker free from mud. Title: Re: New Garrett ProPointer Post by: Napoleon on January 07, 2015, 04:02:04 AM :) aBuy a Makro pointer cheaper and better.
Title: Re: New Garrett ProPointer Post by: Resurgam on January 07, 2015, 12:50:44 PM Probably will give the Makro a try when my Garrett ProPointer gives up the ghost. ;)
Title: Re: New Garrett ProPointer Post by: Nigel at Regtons on January 24, 2015, 03:41:55 PM I've now used the new Garrett Pro-pointer AT (nicknamed the Garrett Carrot) for two outings, it's not just a re-hash of the old pro-Pointer, they've improved all aspects, the speaker has just been mentioned, it appears they have made the speaker grill larger and also now solid so nothing can get through therefore when it does get mud in it simply pop it in the sink. The speaker on the Makro is in the end facing straight up and will also get mud into it (already happened). On/off switch all new and better rubber cover, vibrate is stronger, not sure how they've done that as the old vibrate was already good, 3 different sensitivities with either sound on or off, the highest sensitivity is more powerful than previous PP, personally I turned it back down as you don't normally need more sensitivity, it's orange....... it has a lanyard attachment and it's waterproof in any orientation. £124.95 due Feb.
