After 2 consecutive weeks in the field of dreams, we thought (well I did) that we’d exhausted most of the finds. Being without Kev (Casa dos), who’s temporarily laid up….get well soon Kev (although he and Auntie Ann made a flying visit at lunchtime..great to see them both and thanks for the support), and without our mate Dicky, it was left to myself, Melonhead (Mark) and Ozzy Head (Jo) to winkle up the finds.
We eventually ended up with 2 more hammys-Jo’s first, a lizzy 6d and Mark found a Charles halfgroat…..Peter, please confirm, I thought it was a Charles 2 at first , but I’m inclined towards a Charles 1…both nice finds.
Jo’s other finds were a Vicky, bullhead, and Edward sixpences and a 1941 shilling
Mark had a worn William 111 shilling and 2 love tokens also well worn and a hallmarked button.
I ended up with a George 111 half-crown , a worn William 111 shilling and George v shilling and 6d.
Plenty of other finds, included piles of coppers, buttons and musket balls again, 2 nice buckles and a hawking whistle(?) by Mark, and I had another Anglesey penny token, the second in 2 months and several spindle whorls.
Unfortunately, the field will be planted soon, but a good week end detecting.
ps. Can the Watson family return the Monmouthshire silver please
