Well it was good to chat to new faces at the rally yesterday Smiley, however for me my finds bag was empty Sad so with that in mind I headed of early to my medieval site and try and winkle a few bits , especially as it was dry. I only had a couple of hours but some nice finds came to light in the form of a nice roman hare brooch and a broken (crossbow brooch) these carried on well into the 4th century, it also has signs of being silvered. I have been out today as well and will post the finds tomorrow Wink Wink

Very well done Paul, a rally and a bountiful separate session all in one day, now that's good going. Love the crossbow brooch, they're virtually unheard of in Somerset, there's not enough remaining to give a definate on type but going by the uniform lobes I would say it's from the early C4th (they don't really start until the late 3rd). And the Hare plate brooch isn't too shabby either Wink

With land like that to detect it sort of puts everywhere else in the shade. Great finds again Paul. Love the Hare brooch. They made one from scratch, complete with enamel, on one of the Time Team programs, they must have been very popular.
