I had a couple of hours spare so popped out to get a fix and top up my tan, on a field that I haven't been on
before. I had the finds shown in the picture which included a very fine 1939 silver Florin and a very small
worn hammered, plus a 1961 Elizabeth sixpence and threepenny bit.

The racehorse is something different. It may well be an omen to put a bet on the National this weekend, but
in any case it's got me off to a racing start for the weekend.  Wink

Well done Bob. Nice to find a few coins isn't it, and a Hammy, very nice. Grin

I don't think they had money down here, they must have bartered for eveything. Huh

I'm fairly sure it's a hammered as it so thin and looks like it has a hold in it from antiquity.

One for the FLO, me thinks!

You dig a lot of iron. What machine are you using Val?

The horse must be an omen for sure.
There is one running in the national called 'Silver by nature' number 13. Has to be worth a pop! Grin
Nice finds, dont think it's a hammered tho.

hasn't come out to well in the photo (and, NO, I don't want to buy a camera  Grin ) but the 'jump' jockey
has a lovely green shirt.

Looking through the list of runners the closest in these colours is 'Calgary Bay'.......

I suppose I'd better make a trip to the Bookies tomorrow.. Wink

No, it was on farmland.

It may be a silver 3d but I've hundreds of them, but this one seems very thin so I'm not sure. It's very worn
but it's great to find the small stuff. Also had a dozen large brass bullets from when the Army were billited
nearby during the war.

It's extremely rare I fail to find a coin when I go out with the Deus. Never known a machine like it!  Shocked     Smiley

Nice going Bob, always good to do a bit of coin shooting, reminds you what it's all about. Check that small silver against a George III twopence, they have foxed me before now.
Oh and don't take the omen literally and bet on the horse with no back legs Grin
