;DMy Son as decided to take a interest in metal detecting so yesterday left him with my Father (DB4) for the day in our local fields we detect. At about 1.00 pm I turned up for an hour to see how he was getting on. They had found the usual bronze coins between 1740-present but had no silver. Dad had a few artifacts and horse brass. So i got out my machine and done Hour and half detecting having an appointment with opticians at 4.00 pm. I turned up a lovely 1816 George shilling and the usual bronze coins which had corroded badly.
Son was pleased to see a silver pop up because he thought we were there just to pick up scrap.
Next day decided to give it another go and am I glad I did. As usual couple of artifact horse brass a lead dragon and some corroded bronze coins. Then had my bit of silver a Vicky 3p to which i was glad just to say that i had a piece of silver. Then came the big one my first Gold Coin a Vicky 1861 sovereign I was over the moon. My son is now into detecting after seeing that you really can find gold. Grin
