Title: A morning at the beach - 15th January 2011
Post by: Neil on January 15, 2011, 02:32:56 PM
Woke up early this morning, so thought I would pop to a local beach for two hours. I couldn't face going in land as most of my land I have access to would have been like a swamp. :o

Arriving on the beach, it was like a scene from Crufts, as every dog owner in South Wales looked like they had decided to walk their dog at the same time! They left me alone though, and apart from the odd curious hound invesigating while I was digging it was a pleasant few hours.

I started off with a few bits of modern currency, and a a small childs ring which has gone quite black, so could be silver - missing a piece from the front of it. I wasn't particularly looking for modern losses though, so headed to a section of the beach that has always rewarded me with pre decimal coinage. Once again it didn't dissapoint with a faint signal in amongst the stones resulting in two sixpences in the same hole - the earlier being 1922 and the other needing more cleaning for the date. Not far from here I also pulled out a battered Vicky half penny and found a "Imperial Are Best" bottle top sat amongst the pebbles.

Not my best day by a long shot, but I enjoyed it.

Cheers
Neil

Cheers guys - I always like a trip to the beach this time of year. Could do with the winds and a storm though for the best results. The sand was as high as I have seen it in a long time.

Got your number James mate - logged in the phone.
