Hi Peter,

Found my first whole Longcross today, well pleased, but would really appreciate the full Id if you could please, I can't even figure out the moneyer Huh. Also got a wee London short-cross cut half but no idea which Monarch.

Cheers,

Both look to be Henry III to my very untrained coinage eyes. I am sure Peter will be along shortly with a more accurate moneyer and class description.

Nice finds

Great finds - the long cross is a cracking coin. I've never had a full one either, but plenty of cut halves.

It's Canterbury mint, moneyer Nicole (NICOLE ON CANT), and the class looks like 5c.

As for the short cross, some of the features that will separate the types are not visible. It's London mint, and probably Class 6a or 6b1, which are almost the last classes of John, but you might be right Neil that this one is just into Henry III's reign.

Thanks Peter, still grinning like a Cheshire cat. Can't believe the condition she came out of the ground.
