Many thanks for the views and comments.

This is a gents platinum wedding ring found on Sidmouth beach, notice the very low readout on the display?

The low readout is because it is on the wrong end of the 'tector lol

That's a great display - and just shows what is out there.

I'll have to try some platinum on my ETRAC and see what kind of numbers it shows - just have to get some platinum first.....

Thanks, from what I understand from the 'experts' platinum should always give a low read out?

5 pence pieces come in at around 7 to 10 so the ring was quite a surprise.

This next one is a 9 carat mans wedding ring taken off the beach at Lyme Regis.(wet sand)

I find 5p's come in at 12 on my Safari. When I'm having a good beach day with lots of higher value coins coming up I sometimes leave them, not anymore..  ;D

Exactly my thoughts Doug and Detectski.   Geoff was pointing out the error of my ways last week when we were talking about signal values.
I was under the impression the 30 + on  the Safari is always copper. As there seem to be so many bits of it and old greenies I was tending to ignore them.  Which is strange really because I never ignore anything above -10 if I'm in a field.
Next time I go to a beach I'll re-think what I dig.

Thanks for posting those pics Doug. Just proves what I might have missed. (wonder how many I've walked over !! )

Val
