Detecting in Spain is a bit hit and miss as far as restrictions are concerned but the police do have the power to confiscate your machine and fine you. Makes you realise how lucky we are in the UK sod spain in future i shall go to the carribean ! Yes, he was a real live police officer. As you say, the hotels have their security and then there's beach attendants on most beaches who look after the beach and toilets, if there is one. They are such friendly people with no begging or tip culture. Stunning beaches which are hardly detected. The shops aren't up to much unless you go to the capital Port Louis.
