Welcome to the forum Daf  ;D

Loads of nice stuff have come off swansea Beaches.including hammerd coins .

Theres a few Medieval Villages on that coast line that have been reclaimed by the sea.
the Winter months are the best or just after a storm.

Our Club RARE had a rally there few months ago i think one of our member found a really nice ring cant say where exactly coz i wasnt there.

Best people to ask would be the Swansea club members

All the best with your new Hobby/Pastime

Just a quick question though?

Whats a "lizzie 1st half hammered"?

Is it a Elizabeth 1 coin?

Yip its a Hammered coin. Silver normally. Very highly sought after coins, Very rare to come off beaches though.

No problem , let us know how you do. Dont forget its best at very low tide, so check your tide times , and careful of the mud!

Just past the prison there are some parking areas on the left hand side
you can get some decent finds from the sandy area in front of you
i had a william IIII sixpence from there.
There are also several areas along that stretch that are basically nothing more than mud flats...its a right mucky ol place and beware of the mud but some tidy finds i have seen
georgian silver and heard of hammies and bronze age.

There is a decent sandy beach behind the observitory on the sea front i have never detected there so perhaps someone can tell us what its like to detect on that stretch of beach.
And of course you have the stretch which ends at the mumbles a mixture of sandy areas/rocks and muddy areas.
Hope that helps a bit regards and HH PaulB. 8)

Yeah Dav,  a thin silver coin from elizabeth the first, circa, mid. 1500s,
its a bit salt and sand eaten though,  there used to be a medival villge out there before the sea re claimed it,
