circular medal 30mm  diameter &  60mm from top to bottom of medal with traces of white in one of the triangular sections.

I thought the same Geoff, the design looks a little like the German iron cross, and that had a little white in Smiley

Neat find and I was wondering how part of a German military buckle would end up in Wales.

Nice link Bill though you don't have to go to Germany for it's origin as many of the rifle brigades of WWI used the cross as their emblem unfortunately the bit that would of had the regiments name is the bit we haven't got Undecided
