Where am I?

« on: December 06, 2015, 08:07:34 AM »

Well I managed a couple of outings in the wind. Nothing much found but I thought I'd show my best bits.

1. Spindle Whorl
2. JPM 10p gaming machine token (1980's I think)
3. Don't know but it is 3" long and weighs in at 75 grammes- suggestions very welcome

Don't know what it was s'posed to be. Looks like an attempt at a cast dagger that went wrong. If nothing else it shows there was metal working in the field.
I think there was a lot of cottage industry in metal around here. Loads of iron ore and some copper ore, plenty of wood and coal. Everything they needed to have a go.
Always nice to find a spindle whorl. Looks like an old, old one .  Well done on making the effort.

Hi ya Steve, interesting!! and as Val suggested could be a first attempt at smelting and trying to cobble a bladed tool.,certainly looks as if its got a bit of age to it,well done on venturing out .on a very windswept day !!👍
