Title: Yesterdays Finds.
Post by: icedout84 on March 13, 2014, 12:22:44 PM
Well what lovely weather we had yesterday, a great to day to have off work and go detecting.

Found my 1st musket ball which I am well chuffed about, a very worn button, and a  possible George 111 coin (any other id's on the coin would be great) as was suggested by a chairman of a local club who was passing on his way home from work, I can see the letter 'R' and maybe a 'L' but not sure.

Thanks

Not doing very well here. Just lost my 1st message, try again.   I think your copper is a Victoria. Have tried to copy and enhance, hope it works.

Val

Didn't do very well with that either. Oh well.   If you look at the bottom pici and turn it round you can clearly see Vicci young head.

Not enough detail to say for sure but if you turn your 3rd pici round till the musket ball is at the top you can see her face, nose and a small bun at back of head.

It could be any of these, have a look.

I agree with you Chef.

As to the other one, the chances are that is a farthing.

That's even better Icedout.  Well done.  Always nice to find a coin that you can date. Gives some age to the field and it's occupants.

Thanks for the correction Geoff (but of course if I hadn't spotted it you wouldn't have known, would you)  ::) ::) ;D ;D
