I have one permission of two small fields. Having found several buttons, various pieces of lead, a Victoria penny and 2 x Victoria half pennies I was really pleased to find these two shillings just 30 feet apart. Sounds daft but as a newbie these two really made my day.

It doesn't sound daft Trefor, I go back 30 years as do many on here, and we all started off by digging these coins ip from parks etc, always a joy then and even today digging more ancient coins it's always nice to see a bit of the old silver. Well done  Wink

Thank you very much for your kind comments. It was nice breaking open the soil and seeing the edge of a coin rather than a button, shame I managed to slightly nick the edge of one of them. I guess accurate pinpointing and a bit more care when digging are some of the many things I've got to learn and work on!

It's given me an appetite for more but holiday and work are going to get in the way for a while. Hopefully there'll still be 'treasure' in the ground waiting for me in a couple of weeks...  Grin

Back of the net!

Personally prefer to find a decent milled silver than a battered hammy any day. Be more than happy with them.

Well done
