It's a barrel jellyfish and can't do you any harm even if you swim into one the Portuguese man o'war is much much smaller and has a blue/purple colour running through it Wink

And a sting like putting wet fingers in to a light socket  Cry and if your even unluckier it will get infected as I found out in Majorca when I was detecting in the sea, lucky I had a wet suit on that said no gloves hence the sting on the back of the hand Shocked but on the plus side I did have some Gold, would have thrown it all back in thou not to have the pain associated with a Portuguese man of war sting Cool

Had the joy of diving in a shoal of 100 + jellyfish at 25 metres on Santorinis Caldera. They sneaked up on us whilst we were gazing at beautiful coral features and volcanic sulphur still escaping. Amazing creatures with a central body/ nervous system and trailers at over 2 metres. I got stung in 3 places and the wife just on her hand. You don't feel it until you surface.

As an aside that is one of the deepest places in Europe to dive. You fail there and they literally never find you again. Didn't realis at the time and in fairness we were quite new to it then but thankfully had qualified.

Cheers
