Eyes only tooth find

Hi All
I've had this tooth for a couple of years and every time I look at it I'm more and more intrigued to know what kind of animal/fish that it may of come from.
Found near a former 12th century chapel
It's around 25mm and is similar to a pencil end.
Can anybody help with its ID
any questions welcome and your help is appreciated

I'm not sure that it is a tooth Jamie. The base doesn't seem right. It could be a small bone or the base of an antler or horn that has been shaped for a tool.
Don't forget, early Man used bone for fishing hooks, needles and hole punches amongst other things.
It's a lovely find though. Well spotted.

nice find don't know what animal it belonged to but i wouldn;t want to be around the same area as the critter Grin

Jamie I think it could be a horses wolf tooth. It fits the sizes for a mare, which are shorter than in a male. The flattened edges could be where the bit has rubbed.
