Mine has many times over nearly 40yrs of detecting..Spent years in the museum library looking for sites and hoard locations..My wife even thought I was crazy going out in snow storm detecting..Our holidays have been booked around a potential juicy detecting rally for years..I spent long thousands of pounds on the latest super duper machine over the years..Always bringing the subject around to metal detecting in any pub with farmers or landowners .in the hope of enquiring permission to detect their land..Always looking around museum when on short breaks.Bucket list of finds is still hanging there and plenty to find yet..Always looking at other detectorists finds..Still getting Treasure Hunting and Searcher...I have just read this post and yes I am of my head .. ;D

I've been detecting 5 years now and love it I wish I started years. argo holidays I've been hunting fishing gamekeeping shooting its taken all my time holidays and family excetratime oh my mates think I'm crazy because I just spend all my time metal detectingthe shotguns in the cabinet are full of cobwebs I'll have to start using them and believe it or not I've had a few arguments with my mate over it if I get in to a new hobby I try to put 100% in to it at the moment love metal detecting

Dont worry guys,there are detectorists in Gods waiting room who have their eyes on the notice board for forthcoming Rallies and events on the other side.. ;) :)  Jerry.

Unfortunately I'm not planning on going in that direction and I've heard that hell has some nice detectors and great signals but the ground is dry and they don't give you a spade :(

but the upside is that the weather is warm, the company is raucous .. and there's got to be some very very very wild women on them digs!  ;D ;D

I'm planning on going upwards where the streets are paved with gold.

The streets may be paved with gold, but the rest of the site is secondhand rubbish!   So I,ve Been told

One mans rubbish is another mans Nexus metal detector ??? ;D

I think most folks around here look on me as that eccentric old lady down the lane.  If you want any lessons in how to bore the pants off your friends give me a shout. Some how or other all my conversations end up on either history or dogs. ::)

By the way, I found a nice ring pull on the beach on Monday. It had a bull cut out of it. That's a first. Just joking John said I should start a collection  ::) :o ;D

Having done most of the usual pastimes,hunting, shooting and fishing A  couple or so years ago I got talking to a couple of detectorists whilst taking part in an archaeological dig near Freshwater East,they struck me as being enthusiastic, eccentric old people who wore camouflage which had more pockets than enough!!
But being interested in history I decided to go to one of their monthly meetings which I found interesting,but alas I couldn't join their club,the waiting time for membership was nearly two years so i decided to "go it alone", starting with the purchase of my first detector!!
Well since then I have spent a BL***Y fortune on ,detectors,boots, headphones, probes,gloves,hats,and the all important camouflage clobber!!
I have now become a virtual clone of those two detectorists!!
And you know what,I wouldn't change a thing,I no longer watch TV,instead,I view  detecting websites, detecting,detecting,detecting,yes its taken over my life,and I wouldn't change it for anything,its a great,great,hobby.👍
