hammered coins are double dutch to me... Embarrassed

..i really have no idea how to read them...i'd better start looking them up..i feel my luck is changing soon !!.... Grin

KANE is closest so far - it is Edward II and Canterbury mint.

The best clue to it being Edward II is the closed E with pointed back in EDWAR. These pointed back Cs and Es only occur in Edward II pennies.

Anyone wanting to have another think about the class?

i noticed a broken pearl on left of crown; a long narrow face, and straight -sided N SO COULD BE A CLASS 11a

Going by the hair and the cross inclining to the right, would it be 13? (and the central fleur looks like a greek double axe) think i need to change my glasses Grin
