Hi everyone, i need help with an ID of a item that MickyCoin found, the date on it is 1865 and it seems to have a butterfly or something similar underneath the year, any help will be greatfully recievied. The image was taken using a digital microscope, the item is about the size of a one pence piece.

hi dave you forgot to mention that the coin is   "gold"  could narrow the search down alot  thanks anyway for posting it  mick

Dave that is a excellent photo mate. Have no idea though. Could it perhaps not be a coin as we would use them and maybe a commemerative type coin or part of a medal or jewellery piece and this fell out. Will have a look for you see if I come up with a idea.

Though this is silver could it be something like this Dave. This is a 1865 papal issue Baiocchi from the Vatican. My best guess so far gents> One for the Doc I think.

dave the coin/??? is more like 1/2p size or smaller  it is well smaller than a 1/4 angel  which we sized against from spinks book.
may help narrow down this very tricky little find mick you do really get them don't you buddy!!!!!!!!

hi paul any of the papal issue in gold,   thanks for the help, there are similarities regarding the height of the date and design on the bottom of coin, if it is one, havent seen any dated jewelery yet??   mick
