I sold a pool table to a farmer recently and he wanted a tenner knocked off, I agreed as long as I could detect on his farm!!! Anyway Jayhay and myself had a crack at it today. We found a pretty good field. I picked up a cartwheel, a few Georgians and viccys, a whorl, a weight, a lead token thingy perhaps, lots of buttons. Jayhay got two hammereds  Undecided
Anyone recognise the long green thing in the top right corner? Jayhad had part of it too, his had a hole thru it so I guess it joined my piece.

Your mystery item is part of a shoe buckle - the hole is where the iron suspension bar would have connected across it.

Great post - any photos of the hammered coinage?

nice finds mate colin it was my fault on the field it looked like a short cross i didnt want to rub it and i said "its an eddy chort cross"  Shocked i must of been excited lol but it turned out to be a edward the 1st penny and a Elizabeth 1st sixpence. Grin Grin Grin
