Garrett Pro pointer

Hi all thought id share what i discovered on youtube, you are all prob aware that two dowfalls of the pro pointer are Mud getting in the speaker port and clogging the on/off button up.

Well the simple solution as the guy and i now have done is a piece of old innertube cut to length, also a pice of thin metal with a lip on can be inserted on the underside and pulled out when required to increase the depth just the same as using a coin!!!

Ive cut loads of innertube so if you wanna piece for nowt give me a shout!!!! on sunday

mine needs more than inner tube  ,,have to hold the button in when searching for target and it keeps giving off low batt tone even when new 1s are in there ,,,,time for a new probe i think

Just a new switch needed matey, get it to regton and they will replace it, when the switch goes dodgy on the contacts or it keeps depressed it will do the low battery tone aswell!!

Id sooner spend a few quid on the switch etc rather than buying a new one straight off!! always worth a punt

I've had and abused mine for 3 years, and I just give it a wash, pick out the mud with a cocktail stick and it's as good as new. I wouldn't recommend throwing it muddy puddles but it's designed to take some s@#t. I can't say I've ever covered a socket in cling film to stop it getting oily

I think that's quite a good idea - I've noticed those problems with my Garrett Probe - and the fact the rubber 'on/off' switch doesn't stay in place. It's a very useful bit of kit and I don't want mine to break

Will be trying a modified version of your solution soon I think

Your probably not as rough as me Geoff!!!, It doesnt muffle the sound all that much and i tend to go by vibration hehe

On the subject of Mr.Garrett can some one tell me how the dickie do you attatch a lanyard to one.

I have got to get one as in the link. I lost mine again on the weekend, for the second time. May not be lucky enough to find it next time. The one in the link was advertised in the the Searcher last year and seems quite good.

I didn't like the holster so just popped mine into my tecting bag. Twice it dropped out when I was digging but luckily I noticed it. Could have been a very expensive hole.
