Title: Eneloop batteries!!
Post by: dingdong on June 18, 2015, 07:01:01 PM
Hi,I took delivery of my new ENELOOP rechargeable batteries.
I have charged them up THREE times(haven't used them yet)
My concern is,how many times should I charge these batteries prior to using them,or not,the reason for asking is that no  instructions were included in the packaging, any help would be greatly appreciated, plus I am out detecting tomorrow.... YIPPY !!!!!
Thanks for looking.

You only have to....well just charge them up, no reason to do it more than once if you haven't used them, as said on your original post on the subject the beauty of the Eneloop is that they don't loose much charge even after being on the shelf for a year.

hey ding for future reference why don,t you, after charging check the voltage with a multimeter and you will know they are fully charged, thats what i always do,and tells you if one battery maybe duff.

Voltage alone won't tell you their state of charge as a battery can register full but under load can drop immediately below a usable level.

it will tell you that if  a battery has no volts or  very low voltage that something is wrong.

Eneloop batteries come charged ready for use. If anything they only need a top up.

Yes but it can tell you that it has full voltage but it may have minimal mAh's which means it will be next to useless so is not a reliable test.

yes i know but low or no voltage as i said indicates something wrong.you might have high charge reading and voltage drop when in use, thats why it always pays to carry back up batteries in case.if multi meter shows one or two batteries has no or low voltagethen you would take them to use in the detector etc

Alternatively you could get yourself a charger like I scrounged off John.   It was easier to add pic. than explain. It's an AC/DC charger with a car connector.
