As usual , had a great day with good company, the folded cap badge was mine, I did manage to straighten it and it reads W A A C. A bit of googling came up with Womans Army Auxilary Corps, an american regiment.
Thanks again for all at DW for getting this site and will look forward to returning next year.

p.s The damaged beehive thimble is very similar to the one I found the week before and dates to about the 13thC

I think you might find that the cap badge is British from WW1 .I found one a while back apparently the women were recruited as clerks, cooks, drivers etc to release more men to go to the front.

Thanks for the info,
I've done a bit more digging and realised that I had got the info mixed up with the american unit and you are right its the WW1 regiment. Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed

Great rally report Neil,

I've still to find my first Roman or Hammered coins but I did find some nice things:

a George 111 irish penny

a piece of napped flint

a copper two looped copper piece I think it had three loops and one as broken off?

what I think is a belt or strap end

and two more copper coins that are to baddly worn to ID

looking foreward to the next rally and who knows I may find my first hammy/Roman there.
