Wondered when most of the forum go detecting. Are you weather watchers or does that not matter. I have a young family and have to pick my days well in advance and when the day comes round it is either a hard frost or chucked it down all night. My motivation is there and would in a ideal world go out every weekend but i also love my dad duties and do my bit. How often do you guys go out and for how long. Do you travel miles or stay local. Would love some feedback.   Cool Smiley

I'm a fine weather man and stay mostly local tho' I do have some land in Gloucestershire which hasn't yielded much (yet). Normally detect from about 9ish 'til 3ish or 4ish any day of the week except Thursdays or Saturdays when She-who-never-smiles goes carbooting. Smiley Smiley

i usually get out for about 4 hrs at a time with a couple of coffee and sandwich breaks in between.

longer in the summer though,   and   on beaches in the summer 5 till dark,

often i start thinking of things i have to do at home if i'm not finding much,  that puts paid to it,  lol

My next Rally this weekend  makes 5 weekends in a row
I normaly only do that in the summer months
i hate the cold and the rain i did my fare share of it when i started detecting (fair weather detectorist) the only time i,ll venture out in the rain is for a club rally of bus trip.

Ive only missed one Club rally and that was because my house was under 3 foot of water i did ask the wife could a still go but she was having non of it lol
