Title: Re: id please ?? Post by: dingdong on September 15, 2015, 07:57:56 PM Well found "Mudskipper" very nice button, well found!!
At a guess I would suggest late 16th/early 17th century, but there are others who are far more informed than me that would probably be able to put a finer date to it !!!👍 Title: Re: id please ?? :) Title: Re: id please ?? Post by: probono on September 20, 2015, 03:05:15 PM I found a fairly similar button not too far away from there (near Wenvoe Castle Golf Club) - very heavy and thick.
Judging by the corrosion products on that one (and the colour peeping through on the loop), I'd say there was a bronze / copper basis to it. Title: Re: id please ?? Post by: mudskipper on September 20, 2015, 05:24:16 PM Cheers probono, it apears to have some silvering or tinning on it which doesn't show in the pic, and like yours its heavy for its size it weighs 10.1 g.
