Found this last week, whilst out with Melonhead....thought it was just a "s" hook.
But today, when cleaning out my finds bag, more patina and pattern was showing.
Any ideas, thought it might be Roman...did find a nice trumpet brooch in the same field Huh Huh

Nice find Phil. I've not seen one with that central flower before. UKDFD describes these as S-shaped belt hooks. Probably a bit later in my opinion - 19th century.
