Title: Protect/Waterproof your probe EASY.
Post by: Discrim-Me on June 29, 2013, 11:39:07 AM
For anyone who wants to protect and waterproof their Pinpointer heres four easy steps

1.  buy this>>>>>>>http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230805814427?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230805814427?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649)

2.  cut to size as shown in pic and heat shrink it using a heat gun

3.  seal gap at pro pointer end with some black vehicle silicone sealant (tougher than standard sealant and drys in 1 hour)

4.  unscrew battery compartment and apply some vaseline around the thread on the cap and re tighten back on securely.

I would suggest you remove the switch cover and dry out the inside first just in case you seal in any damp. Rubber cover just levers off then leave it to dry somewhere warm before refitting cover and sealing.

Yes can still hear it no problem, plus it still vibrates to tone too. I blasted it with the hose after Saturdays dig coz it was caked in mud and not a bit of water ingestion, like i said totally waterproof.

just encase it in a piece of old inner tube and seal each end with a large patch, buttons still work ok
