                      Here is a quick pic of the Maplins plastic sand scoop that they are presently listing at £5. Notice how it has a leading edge on the bottom at the front, which makes for easier digging into the sand. It works better on dry sand than wet, but my first one split after I used it on areas with hidden pebbles in the sand.

my scoop has a short leading edge, i will see how it performs and if not good enough i will taper the sides so it has a bigger leading edge and maybe cut the leading edge into a rounded v shape simular to a round nose spade which should make it better for digging in shingl and pebbles,  we will see.
