That's the first time I've seen a pici loaded onto the forum like that.

Well done but most will wonder where it is.  Sandscoop looks strong and will def. do the job. Any plans for a handle ?

i take it you mean a long handle, i thought about it but decided to make the short handle on the top as in pic,   as for the loading of the pic, i am a computer dinosaur as my kids would say, and have not much of a clue regards to downsizing or loading pics, it was the only way i could do it, and that took me ages lol     t was not sure if the pic worked at all,  thanks for the reply val, regards gary.

Re. Sand Scoop. I must admit I don't have one but looking at what's available I didn't think one would be very easy to use on pebbles. The longer handles also look to be wrong. Main problem with the handle on the top is you've got to get down to it. For some I s'pose it's not a problem but for me, these days, getting back up is hard work.

hi val     i thought about a long handle but then thought carrying a spade detector and long handle scoop might be awkward even if i made it  clip to the spade it would be awkward when digging or clipping it to the detector would make it heavier/awkward so decided  on short handle but also put a long strip of ali on the side so i can slot it onto the bag or my belt, yes i will have to bend but maybe i will put a long handle on it that can be detached when not actually using it,  i will try it out first as it is and see how it goes,   gary

I did eventually find and view the pic; thanks to the clue given by Val Grin   It looks to be a very strong scoop and I would be interested to hear how you get on with it when you use it in action.

Initially, I commenced using a cheap plastic scoop from Maplins ( from time to time they drop the prices ) but found that they do split if you use them on shingle or pebbles. For the last couple of months I have'nt even bothered taking my sand scoop on my beach outings.

It looks solid enough Gary but what size are the holes? I know from making my own years ago that unless they are at least 13mm the sand will start to clog up Wink

hi geoff i not sure of size of holes the drill bit i used had no mm  markings left, however what i did was ti make sure that the holes are slightly smaller than a new 5p so  that 5p pieces will not fall through. i nope that answers your query,

I think my experiments date back before small 5p's Embarrassed but I know that half P's would or could fall through but it was a trade off either the possibility of losing a half p or a scoop that didn't actually work, if you have a greater solid service area than holes but bigger holes then the sand will still come out but the chances of losing anything would be less Wink
