Post by: sandpiper on July 08, 2014, 08:03:12 PM

Hi All

If anyone is interested in the Great war I can recommend a visit to Porthcawl museum open Tuesdays and Saturdays 10am to 4 pm . Entry is £1 for adults , 50p for kids

Its an brilliant exhibition of local history and if your interested in all things military then you will love the displays of all the artifacts from guns ,munitions ,medals ,buttons, badges  etc etc its crammed with various military artifacts and some great stories. There is even a section of trench where the kids can go in and have their photo wearing a helmet.

If you like local history related to the great war then you will be impressed with all the information ,It was a garrison town with something like  50,000 troops and was called tent city .Its also sad to read all the stories of those who were lost from Porthcawl itself .For a taster visit the website
www. porthcawlandthegreatwar.com. For a great day out have a bag of chips ,visit the museum and finish off with a cone of italian ice cream  .. you know you want to!!
