Title: Beach detector advice
Post by: simond on October 16, 2017, 05:38:22 PM
Hi all I'm a moderately experienced detectorist but not on beaches. A friend wants to buy his son a metal detector for using on beaches and has asked my advice, I know that the problem will be the wet end! I'm struggling a bit here, help please ???

Can't beat the minelab on wet sand the old sovereign detectors were very good  plus Etrac and the ctx but these are more expensive you could get a good second hand sovereign reasonably cheap of ebay

Hi  already said old sovereign awsome I've got one from 1999.I also use a makro racer mk1 great on land works very well on dry and wet sand nice easy setup with simple sounds. Minelab are  fantastic but personally the flute tunes it play's would do my head in  learning curve for a newbie. My makro racer is out on lone and it's working the wet sand very well finding loads of can pull tops at great depth hope this helps.

Hi Simond,..I totally agree with Mark(Bling)...as a MAKRO RACER (red) owner I also think that the Racer is a brilliant all round Metal detector.
It's Beach mode is very good..as are all the other programs/settings.
Also it's very easy to set up,also extremely light.
And as Mark rightfully says the Minelab Sovereign GT is an absolute demon on the beach, its a very heavy metal detector to lug around on a beautiful for hours.
So for my money,a MAKRO RACER red is the way to go.
Anyway, good luck with which ever Detector you decide on.
Good hunting...👍
