How many people trust thier discriminators per cent? Should they be trusted 100 per cent? Surely an iffy sounding tone could be a treasure waiting to be dug up?

speaking for myself mate i have every confidence in my machine but it has taken time to gain the experience of the different sounds and tones it makes. If its an " iffy " signal mate and im unsure its always worth while digging up even if its rubbish.... then you wont lay in bed later that night thinking ... hmmmm i wonder if i should have looked for that iffy item  Grin

I for one never use any discrimination at all inland or on the beach would much rather hear whats in the ground and make a dig/no dig choice
accordingly.works for me but can be a bit noisy on a busy site though.
Just my two-pence worth Wink Cool

The Disc on the Fisher f75 is very accurate but unlike most detectors you loose depth if you use it above the number 4 on the Digital read out, except on the Jewellery setting ,but that setting can get on your nerves on trashy sites due to its sparkyness (im not sure if thats even a proper word lol)

As a rule depending on how much trash is about I disc to 4 and dig everything over the digital readout over 18 but i check with the audio to check its not large iron that fools most detectors.

You WILL miss some keepers if you use Disc but you,ll probably find more because you,ll be going for the more rewarding low or non ferrous targets

i think that digging iffy signals is a personall preferance but they are worth digging as you never know,as you get used to machine you will also get used to tone varities  which will help

Just getting used to my M6 and find I get iffy signals and readings over contaminated ground. I have a go at most promising signals 'just in case' but realy get fed up when the signal either dissapears or changes to IRON once the ground is disturbed. Angry
Still one of these days that iffy signal might be an iron pot full of bronze and silver coins Cheesy  ha. ha. you never know

If you dont dig it you wont find it.

Happy hunting        Val Beechey

ha ha  Keep at it Val. with that old iron,  if left a while it builds up a load of oxides under the ground,  and when you dig in and release them the signal will often go too once the oxides are released, they make it sound like  a larger & better signal the little teasers,
