Title: English traversing the Atlantic
Post by: Resurgam on February 11, 2016, 02:19:03 PM
Spent the last eight days confined to base and coughing me head off still; despite eating antibiotics daily. To kill the boredom and not overdo things, I have been skimming through back copies of The Searcher, The Treasure Hunter, and watching old movies on television.

Years ago, I watched a movie where American service personnel were stunned when they heard that an old pensioner was paid to knock-up  the local mill girls!  :o

Whilst lazily watching a US film today I observed a car pulling up in front of a local cafe and above the front was a large sign that read.........."Cafe  -  Jugs iced free". That Atlantic ocean has a lot to answer for.

Perhaps I have too much time on my hands.  ;D

Slowly making progress. Finished the antibiotics today and am tentatively waiting to see if the chest infection will totally abate. Still coughing a wee bit but will hotfoot it back to the doctors on Monday if the cough looks like being problematic. Will probably not get out detecting again until February 29th.

Took my first trip into town for over a week today. Took ages finding my copy of Treasure Hunting on the shelves in W H Smiths. I eventually asked the girl on the till if the mag was late or if they were perhaps sold out.
It turned out that the copies of the Searcher & the Treasure Hunting had been placed behind the counter, due to copies being stolen off the shelves on a regular basis.  ::)
