Title: Fibula? Post by: kevinmansfield on July 29, 2014, 01:06:54 PM Hullo,
Found this a few days, I think it's a Roman Fibula, but I'm no expert on Roman artifacts. If anyone could give me a clearer idea of what it is and how old it is I'd be very happy. It's about an inch and half long. Many thanks, Kevin. Title: Re: Fibula? Title: Re: Fibula? Post by: kevinmansfield on July 29, 2014, 08:34:57 PM Is it a dolphin brooch ? If it is its around AD 40 - 60 Many thanks Taff, I looked up Roman Dolphin brooches on Google. This looks like it could well be a crude version of a dolphin brooch. Oldest thing I've ever found! :o Title: Re: Fibula? Post by: Chef Geoff on July 29, 2014, 08:47:49 PM Sorry Kevin I didn't get around to answering you, it's a little flat to be a true Dolphin brooch so would be grouped as a T shaped brooch or a Colchester derivative which pushes it up to around the 80's AD but still firmly in the 1st century.
Very well done ;) Title: Re: Fibula? Very well done ;) Thanks very much Chef. 80ish AD is till the oldest thing I've ever found. So I'm very pleased. Much appreciated. Title: Re: Fibula?
