Title: Re: what a difference a day makes Post by: handyman [Alan} on October 19, 2009, 12:01:29 PM here are a few more found earlier this month. note the top right and middle right are the reverse sides of the coins posted above.
i do like the romulus and remus imagery, with the wolf suckling twins. [the fragment next to it is also the same obverse]. the radiates are from 250 to 300ad, but i am awaiting further I.d. from the FLO later this month. enjoy the pics -- cheers Title: Re: what a difference a day makes Post by: handyman [Alan} on October 20, 2009, 10:56:12 AM in the opening post, there is a small trapezoidal button on the left hand side. i am now pleased to identify it as 17th century - which makes it a lovely find.
reference detecting finds book 1. Title: Re: what a difference a day makes Post by: handyman [Alan} on October 20, 2009, 01:31:15 PM 3 days later -- 3 fragments of fibula, found in a field which produced the buttons above, all within 10 square metres of each other.
the top one in the piccy is a very unusual shape -- any comments welcome. cheers Title: Re: what a difference a day makes Post by: handyman [Alan} on October 24, 2009, 09:45:59 AM managed an hr yesterday and picked up this tiny commonwealth halfpenny. [from the same field as that above]
1649 - 1660 [spink 3223]. 1st hammered in ages!! also found out that in the previous pic, the top object is a trumpet brooch. enjoy Title: Re: what a difference a day makes Post by: mole on October 24, 2009, 10:29:23 AM Nice finds Alan were they made with the explorer 11 ??? are you still using your friends programme ??? keep up the good work bud ;)

5 nummus, 1 constantinus 318 - 324ad, with a reverse of 2 winged angels holding a wreath over an altar. an interesting mintmark of TT 2 radiates - 250 to 300ad - am working on the ID at present 1 very poor constantine 1 indiscernible and a lead pot seal, with a bit of pot in it. I think the weight may be an Apothacry Weight (not the usual ohm symbol though) - very similar in design though. Nice finds Neil Title: Re: what a difference a day makes Post by: handyman [Alan} on January 18, 2010, 03:45:12 PM thx neil, for the suggestion. i'll go search it out.
