Title: Two lots of silver today Post by: Tafflaff (Rob) on June 18, 2009, 06:51:25 PM Went out this afternoon and as well as the normal buttons and buttons and buttons I got the coin I've been after a pre Vicky not hammered Silver.
But the condition of it is poor to say the least. I also had what I 1st thought to be a nice groat but turned out to be an unknown medal ? Token? dont know . JULY 12. BRISTOL MEDAL (? Shilling), Somerset. 38/104 Ob. BRISTOL MEDAL THE XII OF JULY, VIRTUTE, &C. Rv. Bristol & Welch principality silver medal F GARRATT & FS. HORE GRIGG. Prosperity to Wales and the City of Bristol, rr 39/104 Differs on Rv., ISSUED BY, added, rrr 40/104 Differs from 38 in having LAM'T BECK between Garratt & Griggs, rrr 41/104 Ob. as 38/104, Rv. similar, but the issuers' names are omitted, the legend reading PROSPERITY TO WALES & THE CITY OF BRISTOL, rr So I make it No. 41/104 in this list. Shame it's so damaged, but still a very nice find.
